Rigatoni is a tube-shape shaped pasta that is larger than penne and with ends that are cut square instead of diagonally. This pasta has ridges down the length of the tubes which helps sauces to adhere to the pasta. Rigatoni is very popular in Southern Italy and is ideal for use with thick cream or tomato based sauces. Also very good for use in pasta bakes.
